Released March 2026, Voxtral TTS is Mistral AI's open-weight speech synthesis model. At 4 billion parameters, it delivers speech quality that matches or exceeds proprietary alternatives from ElevenLabs and OpenAI — while running on consumer hardware.
The model uses a “voice-as-an-instruction” paradigm: it captures intonation, rhythm, and emotional expression from a short audio reference and applies those characteristics to any new text — across 9 languages.
